Perennials

At Southview Greenhouse Growers, we provide a well-stocked selection of perennials throughout the gardening season.  We have plants for a variety of locations, from sunny to shady, drought-tolerant or moisture-loving, tall border plants or low ground covers.  Whether you are looking for a burst of blooms or fabulous foliage we have you covered!   

Perennials return each season due to their hardy roots.  Provided they receive proper amounts of sun, water, nutrients and occasional upkeep, perennials are a thriving and dependable performer year after year!      

There is a saying about perennials; “First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap!”  Essentially this means have a little patience, it may take more than one season before they look like the images or are the height and width described on their plant tags.  Keep this in mind when spacing and placing them in the garden!  If you really want to fill in the gaps until the plants’ mature, this is a great time to incorporate some of our showy annuals.

Another detail worth noting, perennial flowers have various bloom times.  We recommend you collect a variety of plants that will orchestrate striking colours, scents, and textures from spring to fall.   We carry a refreshed selection throughout the season, so if you are missing that certain “wow” factor at any time, you can come find the perfect plant that may be thriving when you want it.

Lastly, never underestimate the power of foliage!  We carry an impressive selection of hostas, coral bells, sedums, ornamental grasses and various ground covers can provide stunning colour, form, texture and contrast for the majority of the season.
